Liberal Smith continues to defend vote for jobs-killing AB5
On raising $3 billion in new taxes – “You bet I’m gonna do it”

Valencia, CA – One day after receiving the endorsement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Congressman Mike Garcia today joined the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce for their Congressional Candidate Forum with liberal Assemblywoman Christy Smith. Over the course of the one-hour forum, Garcia shared his vision of job growth and lower taxes for the 25th district and reminded voters about Smith’s record of $3 billion in tax hikes, her signature jobs-killing bill AB5, and her support for defunding local law enforcement.

“As Mike Garcia advocated for lower taxes and against jobs-killing AB5, Liberal Christy Smith actually admitted she was proud to have voted to hike taxes to the tune of $3 billion,” Garcia Campaign Spokesperson Lance Trover said.

Not only did liberal Smith indicate she was proud to vote to raise taxes on Californians, but she also defended her continued support of AB5, a law that is currently threatening to force Uber and Lyft out of the state, and recycled many of the same lies that she has been pushing throughout her campaign.

Today’s forum follows Smith’s last-minute withdrawal from a forum last week hosted by the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce. Even after publishing a publicity stunt letter listing her debate demands, Smith also declined to debate Garcia earlier in the month at an event hosted by the SCV Signal, one of the district’s top local news outlets.

“It’s astounding that Christy Smith has now admitted that, along with killing 70,000 California jobs, she is proud to have voted for $3 billion in new taxes and fees,” added Trover.
